Hi! Laura here. I work full time as an attorney in the healthcare industry at a large firm in the Northeast Ohio area. I married my college sweetheart and we have two kids, Raymond and Emma. Three years ago, my husband RJ and I bought our second house in our dream neighborhood. The house is dated, so we’ve been renovating it ourselves room by room.
Our love for DIY-ing started when it was just the two of us and we bought our first house in 2012. We’ve followed @ChrisLovesJulia religiously since their beginning as they were part of the beginning of the DIY movement I would call “aesthetic remodeling.” However, we never took the plunge into major projects until 2019. In fact, our first project wasn’t even at our current house! When RJ’s sister and her husband purchased a new house at the end of 2019, I was immediately inspired when I saw the dated fireplace on their first floor. While their family traveled over the holidays, we did a makeover on their fireplace (more on that later!). Ever since then, we’ve started tackling bigger projects in our own home.
I’ve been so inspired by accounts like @AngelaRoseHome @CynthiaHarper and @PhiliporFlop and have been an avid follower of many more DIY bloggers. In early 2020, I realized that I really needed a creative outlet. I love my job as an attorney and the field I work in, but I have a creative and expressive side that I’ve been wanting to embrace. Love Living Here embodies my vision for sharing home renovations and also sharing about life experiences in general. I’m sure many can relate to the fact that it has taken me a lot of hard work, heartache, depression, and healing to get to where I am and be who I am today. Several years ago when I was going through a very tough time, @ChrisLovesJulia shared on Instagram stories a quote that I’ll never forget: You have been assigned this mountain to show others that it can be moved. That ability to inspire like @ChrisLovesJulia did for me is why I love the Instagram/blogger community and am looking forward to being part of it in a bigger way.
